(Beware, this post contains drawn/naked boobs)

Before my Grandparents got married, my Grandpa was in the military and was working overseas (this was after WWII). I believe these are the pin up girls my Grandma drew for him while he was away. (Again, I don't mind if people want to save these for their own viewing pleasure, but please do not re-post them anywhere else.) :)

I'm Officially Declaring it "Grandma Week"

First picture: Grandparents, and I assume the kids are my Uncle and my Mom. Yellow is my favorite color, so I'm very jealous of that suit
Second picture: Another wedding picture
Third and Forth: I'm pretty sure my Grandma is the youngest girl in these two pictures. I love the hairstyles in these two pictures
My two favorite facts/stories about my Grandma: 1. She got kicked out of college for punching a nun, all because she didn't want to wake up early enough for classes. 2. She ended up meeting my grandpa when she picked him up when he was hitchhiking
I think it would be awesome if this really did turn into "Grandma Week" so if anyone would like to do the same, please post pictures/stories/whatever about your Grandma(s) in your own blog

Grandparent Wedding Pictures

I'm not sure what year my Grandparents (Mom's side) got married, but I think it was around the very late 40s, early 50s. I don't know what my Grandma is doing in the first picture, but I just love it. Her dress is also to die for.

My uncle just posted a bunch of old family photos on facebook, so I will be posting more sooner or later. I really don't know much about them, but they're so fun to look at. At least I think so! I don't mind if people want to save them for their own viewing pleasure, but please do not re-post them anywhere else. :)

Finds from today

I just have to say how much I LOVE this dish sets. I didn't buy any kind of dishes when I moved out, because my room mates had more than enough. These were cheap enough that I could justify buying them for the future. Plus color/look wise they'll fit in well with the old fiestaware my mom said she'll be giving me some day. Not that I'm a stickler for things matching, but it's always an added bonus. I think I am going to get one of those lead testers, just in case. I never think to bring them with me while I'm thrifting. Better safe than sorry I guess. And anyone who knows what the picture on my bedding is gets extra cool points...just saying :)

Another of my vintage inspired costumes

Posting the pictures from that theme party the other night got me thinking about how a lot of my costumes for Halloween are vintage inspired. Being Cruella DeVill was one of my favorite costumes ever. My purse, gloves, stuffed dog were all vintage, and I think maybe the coat was too, but I'm really not sure about it.

1950s themed party

A friend of mine had a 1950s themed birthday party tonight. We all dressed up and went to the 1950s themed McDonalds for dinner! I'm having trouble uploading more than two pictures so here is a good group shot, and one of me. I'm not sure why, but I don't have any pictures of the guys.

New City, New Vintage Shops

I'm going to apologies now for the quality of pictures in this post. I don't have much space, or good lighting in my room. These are not the best pictures, but I will try to find a way to take better pictures in the future.

I recently moved away from home to go to college. There are some great vintage shops near me now! I love it! This week I had some old highschool friends visit, and of course we went shopping! I found two purses, but I was only going to let myself buy one (the first picture). It's black, roomy, and has a very slight floral pattern embroidered into it. When I went to buy it, the manager said that he would give it to me for a dollar because the hinges where it closed weren't totally connected. It still functions, I just have to double check that it is actually closed at the top. When I told the manager that I was going to go back for the other purse as well, he gave me the first one for free! I lucked out.

Introduction Post

I suppose I should probably make some kind of introduction post, even though I'm so bad at writing stuff about myself! So here goes nothing I guess.

I'm a 25 year old college student (I had a slow and late start with this adventure). I've loved old movies/music/fashion ever since I was little, and I was also really into the punk/ska scene as a teen and in my early 20s. That's exactly why I picked the name "Betty2Tone" for this blog! It's the name of the ska girl icon, but at the same time it fits into the whole vintage theme. It's a good meeting point for my two loves!

I've been reading vintage blogs for about a year or two, so I thought I might as well start one of my own. I'm not exactly sure of the direction it's going to go in. I don't wear make up, and I don't do much with my hair, so the focus will probably mostly be on clothing or old movies/music. I hope everyone enjoys my blog, but if you don't feel free to make a suggestion!
