Vintage Drag Queens?
I love drag queens, and I love Pandora Boxx. She was on RuPaul's Drag Race this last season. She was playing in a club in D.C. last night, so I went with a friend. I wore my 1960s dress, vintage earrings, and a vintage purse. I ended up getting to meet her after her performance! The first thing that she said to me was that she LOVED my dress. That made my day. I laughed and said that I was just about to tell her the same thing about her dress. I hate how awkward I look in this picture, sort of like a deer in headlights. I'm also posting a video of her lip-synching to one of the songs in Chicago...It's very flapper-licious.

Quick Pic

A couple Halloweens ago, one of my friends had a party and the theme was old celebrity icons. I was looking through old pics and found a picture from that night. I had already planned out my costume when the theme was decided, otherwise I probably would have been Bettie Page. So here's Liza Minnelli, Elvis, Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, and Charlie Chaplin

Grandpa Jack
I thought I would post my Grandpa's obituary since he did some interesting stuff during the depression and WWII. If this is too morbid for anyone, I apologize...turn back now. I never knew he was in the Philippines during WWII, so even I learned something. The first picture I'm posting was him in kindergarten(?) in a play where Tom Thumb and Thumbilina (or someone like that) get married. The second picture was him on his 100th birthday. My Grandpa was pretty bad ass.

First Blog Award!

A big thank you to http://niftythriftyretromama.blogspot.com/ She gave me my first blog award! I'm super flattered, and wasn't expecting it at all. Here are the rules:
1. Thank & link to the person that gave you the award.
2. Pass this award onto 10 bloggers.
3. Contact Blogs to let them know they've won.
4. Tell seven things about yourself:
1. I LOVE drag queens. I think it started with watching too many John Waters movie as a kid/teenager. I love watching movies about them, and going to drag shows.
2. I do not care about having the latest technologies out there. My phone and computer are super old, I don't have an mp3 player, and I only broke down and got a dvd player a couple of years ago when they officially stopped making VHS.
3. Guinea pigs are probably my favorite thing in the world. I have had six that have personally belonged to me, and over 5 others that were family pets.
4. Except for the fact that I like wearing dresses, and have too many shoes and purses, I'm not particularly "girly".
5. My hair has literally been dyed every color out there. I think my favorite was purple, or neon yellow.
6. I hate warm weather and I hate summer time. They both make me so grumpy.
7. I love a lot of different kinds of music, but Green Day has been my favorite band for over 10 years, and they always will be.
Picking people for this award was hard, because I love all the blogs I read. I think everyone deserves one, but here are the 10 that I picked:

Jane Russell
I've been pretty MIA lately. Thanks to finals, one of my guinea pig dying, and then my Grandpa dying, I just haven't been in the mood to do much of anything. I got caught up on a lot of my school stuff today, so I've been watching a lot of clips from old musicals on youtube tonight.
Now I love Marilyn Monroe, but I think that Jane Russell is the best part about the movie, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. I LOVE the musical scene when she's in the gym, singing with all those scantily clad men around. If you think about it, it's pretty homo erotic, and it looks like they're wearing thongs if you squint your eyes a little bit. It makes me giggle every time. I don't know if this is true, but I've heard that the part where Jane Russell gets knocked into the water was unplanned. She just went with it, and it ended up being the "best" take they made of that scene. I really need to see more Jane Russell movies. Time to get another Netflix account I guess.
